about

B.C.

This short collection represents my lighthearted attempt to elevate and honor some of the musical contributions of Trinidadian culture that have inspired me.

As a white Trinidadian-American, I acknowledge that these musical styles were created and are still being pushed forward by people of African, Indian, and Indigenous Venezuelan descent. This is my small offering and tribute.

The EP is also a deliberate confrontation of white supremacy and patriarchy, especially of the Eurocentric narrative and symbol of Jesus (and Mary) surrounding Christmas.

I honor the joyful, playful, and satirical spirit of Trinbagonian people in the face of the harsh realities of colonization, the living legacies of violence, oppression and hypocrisy unleashed by my own European Christian ancestors.

Above all, this EP is a celebration.

All money raised will go to Equality For Flatbush, a Black/POC led organization fighting gentrification and police brutality in the Caribbean diasporic neighborhood in which my family and I live.

This album was recorded on Lenape land, on which I am a guest.

Thank you for listening. Merry Christmas.
